The date plate is stenciled metal that runs through a red plate to color the numbers on the day's date. Above the indicator is a reverse sapphire crystal mounted magnifying glass for easier date reading. I prefer those. The GMT hand combined with the normal hand allows you to keep track of both time zones. Note that, like many GMT watches, the hour hand in local time adjusts in full-hour increments as needed (this is also part of the date setting function). See that button near 10 o'clock? It is used to turn the inner rotating bezel in one-hour increments. There is a switch on the push rod that can be turned. It locks the pusher in place or allows you to turn the inner ring left or right. One direction means you're changing time zones when you're driving east, and turning it the other way means you're driving west. It's a beautiful system, the buttons and switches are made of titanium. I only wish it was something I would use more, but if you do want to use the ring as a second time zone indicator, you can easily do that too.
So, in general, the watch has time, GMT hands, GMT ring facing east or west, 12 hour chronograph and date. It's an impressive list of features, and for watch lovers who love features, this piece doesn't disappoint. Good news, is that it also works. It really is a handy watch for those who travel. Why am I pointing this out? Because sometimes brands like to complicate for the sake of novelty or complexity.
