Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition: the story continues
The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition pays homage to the iconic Chronograph 1 launched in 1972 while continuing its legacy. Following the limited edition tribute to history launched on the occasion of the brand's 50th anniversary in 1972, a model with a contemporary design is now launched.
The shell is completely black
The case is made of black-coated titanium and has a diameter of 40.8 mm and a height of 14.15 mm. The pushers and crown are also made of light metal, the latter bearing the current Porsche Design logo. Double-sided anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal protects the front. The mechanical structure can be seen through the back of the watch. The manufacturer specifies the water resistance rating as 10 bar or 100 meters.
High contrast dial
The all-black numbered version features an all-black dial with contrasting white indicators. There is a ring around the dial with a tachymeter scale. The scales and day/date displays are in the current Porsche font. Two luminous hands indicate the time. However, the minute hand has a tapered shape. The red chronograph hands in the center are also very eye-catching. Corresponding counters are located at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock. At 9 o'clock is the small seconds dial.
The watch is powered by WERK 01.140 movement. It was developed at the brand's manufacturing plant in Solothurn but uses a platform from supplier Concepto. The movement is self-winding and has a power reserve of 48 hours. The chronograph has a cam switch and an oscillating pinion clutch. Elsewhere, quick switching of the date display adds convenience. In addition, the watch also has COSC Observatory certification, ensuring proper accuracy.
The watch comes on a black-coated titanium bracelet with a micro-adjustable folding clasp.
