GMT Sport has a new manual winding movement with a 72-hour power reserve (guaranteed by two coaxial barrels in series). The movement consists of up to 435 parts, all of which have been finished to the highest standards of Greubel Forsey Atelier.
The 24-second tourbillon at 1 o'clock represents the third “basic invention” of the watchmaking duo, second only to the 30 ° double tourbillon and quadruple tourbillon. This new tourbillon stands out in a cage tilted at 25 degrees and rotates every 24 hours. This combination of inclination and faster speed significantly improves the timing performance of this single tourbillon system without increasing the height of the movement.
Dial Tour
Consistent with the sports theme of GMT Sport luxury cheap watches, the dial is designed with legibility and efficiency in mind. The hour and minute hands are displayed by hollow, concentric curved hands that follow the curvature of the case and movement. The gear set is mounted on a suspended black-coated arched bridge overlooking the earth and driving the hour and minute hands. The auxiliary dial between 10 and 11 o'clock shows the small second hand and the second time zone on the rotary dial at the same time. At three o'clock, you can see a hollowed out hand and a dynamic differential indicated by a red arrow.
GMT mechanism
Greubel Forsey's GMT complications debuted in 2011 and holds two patents. It works by reading the second time zone on the auxiliary dial at 10 to 11 o'clock and then combining it with the universal time display given by a rotating globe. The globe is surrounded by a sapphire crystal ring with a 24-hour scale, so users can read the local time for all longitudes and see whether it is day or night.

On the back side of the GMT Sport, the outer ring and central ring indicate the UTC Universal Time Zone and Daylight Saving Time of 24 cities in the main time zone. The disc shows the time zone (light) after daylight saving time, and the time zone (dark) after daylight saving time. Two buttons on the left side of the case change the second time zone and synchronize local time with the globe.
