Zenith collaborates with Felipe Pantone to design colourful Defy Extreme watch

Watch manufacturer Zenith has teamed up with contemporary artist Philippe Pantone to create a watch that combines "high-frequency watchmaking with vibrant multimedia optical art".

Called the Defy Extreme Felipe Pantone Watch, the watch is Pantone's fourth project with Swiss brand Zenith, following two previous watch collaborations and a vibrant tarp design for the exterior of the brand's manufacturing building.

According to Zenith, the Defy Extreme watch is limited to 100 pieces and is made of mirror-polished stainless steel with a smooth dodecagonal bezel and chronograph pusher guard in translucent blue yttrium aluminosilicate The glass is comparable to synthetic sapphire.high quality replica watches

The watch's design is inspired by Pantone's Planned Iridescence collection - a collection of pieces defined by metallic elements and geometric shapes arranged to create optical illusions.

"Looking down at the dial, its sapphire element is translucent and metallic," says Zenith. "Turn it slightly towards the light, and there are sparks of colour and geometric patterns."

The Defy Extreme watch also features Zenith's unique built-in El Primero 1/100-second automatic high-frequency chronograph.

The watch brand explains: “The chronograph’s minute counter has a gradient colour scale, each minute segmented in a different shade, [and its] seconds counter is made with very fine concentric black and white lines, mimicking Mo effect."Ulysse Nardin Diver Norrona Arctic Night

Wearers can choose from a translucent blue silicone strap designed to mirror the watch's sapphire-like dial, as well as a detachable polished steel bracelet or a black Velcro strap.

Each of the four corners of the case is engraved with characters spelling "FP#1", the coded signature of Felipe Pantone El Primero.

"The interplay of colour gradients and light, pattern and transparency is part of the artist's signature," explained the brand.

"So Zenith and Pantone sought to create a dial that retains the highly colourful look typical of his work, but incorporates elements that interact with light in the most unexpected ways."

Packaged in an artbook-shaped box, the Defy Extreme watch is a further homage to Pantone, which is hardcovered in clear plexiglass, echoing the iridescent quality of the timepiece.Discount replica watches
