The case of the RM 07-04 is made of Quartz TPT® for five watches and Carbon TPT® for carbon fiber watches.
These materials are the brand's exclusive materials in the field of watchmaking, with a unique appearance. Their extraordinary mosaic surfaces display extremely regular yet utterly unique striations, as they are composed of layers of parallel filaments divided by carbon fiber or silica threads.
Quartz TPT® fibers are often used in very high performance applications due to their high temperature resistance, strength and transparency to electromagnetic waves. The fibers are arranged in layers no thicker than 45 microns and impregnated in a resin developed exclusively for Richard Mille. The layers are then stacked using an automated positioning system that changes the direction of the fibers by 45° between each layer. After being heated to 120°C and subjected to a pressure of 6 bar, they are machined on CNC machines in Richard Mille's manufacturing facility.
Carbon TPT® is made using the same process, but from carbon fiber threads.
