The Hastroid legend continues with red fluid hours suspended within a lightweight titanium container.
Since 2012, HYT has occupied a unique position in the market as the only watch brand to display time in liquid. Clepsydras have been around since ancient times, but HYT's neon liquid is pumped through a bellows around the dial to indicate the time, which is unique in the world of horology. Launching in 2022, Hastroid marks a second life for the company and returns to the brand's roots with its edgy sci-fi design. A new limited edition Hastroid vessel has landed at HYT, a titanium vessel with bright red liquid indicating the time.
The Hastroid’s large sandwich case borrows design features from the HYT Moon Runner buy good replica watches, with skeletonized lugs, indentations with inflated grids on the sides, and a guarded crown on the sides between the 2 and 3 o’clock positions. . In keeping with the brand’s avant-garde aesthetic, the case is crafted from a contemporary combination of titanium and black DLC titanium. The central black DLC titanium container that protects the movement has a sandblasted surface, while the skeletonized titanium frame has a vertical brushed finish.
Given the Hastroid Silver Red’s large size, measuring 48mm in diameter, 17.2mm thick, and 52.3mm lug-to-lug, opting for lightweight yet resilient titanium was almost a must. The silver ventilation grille on the side of the case reveals the red interior, which matches the color of the liquid in the capillaries and the top stitching on the strap, which is a nice touch.
As with all HYT watches, the originality lies in the time display, which relies on two immiscible liquids placed inside a glass capillary tube. Pushed by the bellows, the left bellows pushes the colored fluid along the tube, and the right bellows pushes the transparent fluid; the confluence of the two fluids marks the current time. Once the colored fluid reaches the 6 o'clock position, it will flow back retrograde. The index ring with hour markers is also ventilated like the side grille and features Arabic numerals made of Super-LumiNova blocks. Large skeletonized matte black hands with red and white Super-LumiNova indicate a black and white minute track. First seen on the Hastroid Blue Star, the redesigned power reserve indicator and small seconds dial also appear here. For greater legibility, the skeletonized power reserve is on the right and the small seconds hand is on the opposite side, both with red-tipped SLN hands and luminous white markers.
Like previous Hastroid models, this silver-red version is equipped with the proprietary movement HYT 501-CM, co-developed with Eric Coudray. This modular movement is hand-wound, beats at 28,000vph, and can store up to 72 hours of power. The entire movement uses 352 parts, most of which are decorated with sandblasted and satin-brushed surfaces to match the case.
