Richard Mille launches new RM 07-01 automatic color ceramic capsule
Richard Mille has just released three new Memphis-inspired colorful ceramic RM 07-01 watches, officially ending the summer watch series. Memphis, the 1980s Italian design school founded by Ettore Sottsass, has enjoyed a hardcore renaissance in the past few years thanks to Instagram and Ultrafragola selfies. It's graphic, colorful, and a little bit random.
The capsule collection of RM 07-01 watches comes in very Memphis colors: powder blue, blush pink and lavender pink. The high-performance ceramic case is made of TZP (or tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline). Its properties include corrosion resistance, greater hardness, scratch resistance (1,400 Vickers hardness) and toughness better than sapphire.
The case shape is the traditional RM tonneau shape - of course, the 07-01 has a slightly narrower case shape. The ceramic bezel and case back are held together by a micro-blasted white gold strap – again, it’s all very RM. The foundation here is nothing new shape or form. The focus is on the pop aesthetic of Memphis design and highly intricate hand finishing.
Anchored to a baseplate and bridges made of grade 5 titanium is a gray PVD-treated red gold skeleton dial engraved with the Memphis pattern, surrounded by other elements such as colored ceramics, laser-cut rubber appliqués and diamond-set elements. Decorative details. Guilloche is a prominent decorative technique
The 07-01 Automatic Color Ceramic Watch is equipped with Caliber CRMA2 - a skeletonized automatic movement with hours, minutes and adjustable rotor geometry and a power reserve of 50 hours.
