Conservation Collective is a global charity uniting a network of regional philanthropic foundations dedicated to protecting, preserving and restoring the natural environment. It is against this background that Hublot and Depeche Mode have joined forces again in Berlin, the capital of Germany, after 11 years to launch a new limited edition watch: The Spirit of Big Bang Depeche Mode. The iconic barrel shape of the Big Bang Soul watch adopts Hublot’s iconic all-black aesthetic design. Created in collaboration with Depeche Mode, the design combines a skull pattern - a symbol seen in the video announcing the band's return - with an hourglass, symbolizing the passage of time. The center of the dial is dotted with small black ceramic balls, which symbolically flow back and forth with the movement of the wrist, conveying the concept of "Memento Mori". This Latin phrase means "remember that you must die" and is intended to prompt reflection on the brevity of life. Along the dial, the British band’s logo abbreviation DM appears at 6 o’clock. The hour markers are in the form of pyramid-shaped studs that echo the black ceramic bezel.
The barrel-shaped case measures 42 mm and is made of sandblasted and polished black ceramic. It is powered by the self-winding HUB1710_SD movement with a 50-hour power reserve. Each Spirit of Big Bang Depeche Mode comes with two straps that are easily interchangeable thanks to the patented One Click system. The first is made from recycled materials and Velcro in line with Conservation Collective’s plastic pollution initiative. The second one is made of black rubber and features a black titanium folding clasp. It includes the existing pyramid studs on the bezel and dial, creating an unusually “rock and roll” vibe.
