New Release: Omega Speedmaster Moon Phase Meteorite
Now let’s get to the Speedmaster. Omega has launched a new Speedmaster collection today with two new Moon Phase high quality replica watches featuring new manual-winding movements, dual moon phase displays, and meteorite dials. The Omega Speedmaster Moon Phase Meteorite watches are the most wearable and perhaps the most attractive Speedmaster Moon Phase watches available.
These aren’t the first meteorite chronographs we’ve seen (e.g., Rolex and Bulova), nor are they the first meteorite Moon Phase watches we’ve seen (e.g., JLC, Rolex, Hermès). They aren’t even the first Speedmasters with meteorites on the dial, nor are they the first Speedmasters with entire dials made of celestial rock. Among them, there’s the Speedmaster Moon Phase Meteorite Grey and the newer Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Platinum. But they do seem to offer something new, and are always worth a look.
Many will rave about the dials, but I think the real star is the new case. The current Speedy Moons, with its automatic movement, is nearly 17mm thick and 44.25mm wide, making it look quite large on all but the thickest of wrists. Omega luxury replica watches has seriously streamlined this watch (i.e., with a new manual-winding movement), reducing it to 43mm in diameter and 13.6mm thick, which is objectively reasonable, even close to very good. These dimensions and the 48.6mm lug-to-lug distance would make the stainless steel case perfectly wearable. (There may still be some complaints about the diameter, but I think that sacrifice can and should be made for the novelty of the dial.) The overall design remains the same, though, with the cabochon lugs and asymmetrical case, pump-style pushers, ceramic bezel inlay, and sapphire crystal. It’s worth noting, however, that while the automatic Speedy Moons had a WR of 100 meters, these Moons have a WR of only 50 meters.
The dials of the watches are all made from meteorite, with a galvanic grey coating on the light dial and a black PVD coating on the dark dial. I prefer the contrast of the blue accents on the grey dial, while the black is tone-on-tone. Omega has used fragments of the Muonionalusta meteorite to create dials before, and there’s no reason to think that won’t be the case here; this particular meteorite is a common choice for brands seeking to use the material. The hands and indices on both are 18k white gold (with a blue PVD coating on the grey dial) and filled with Super-LumiNova. replica swiss Watches
Meteorite aside, the dial layout is identical to other dual-dial moonphase speedies. The left dial displays the running seconds with a white hand and the date with a subtly curved red hand that runs up the bevel of the date ring. The right dial displays the 60-minute and 12-hour chronograph readouts, with the moonphase at 6 o’clock. However, Omega has stepped things up a bit with this moonphase. Instead of a single crescent aperture, the display shows the moon phase for both the northern and southern hemispheres simultaneously—nothing fancy here, just more cutouts on the dial. Perhaps more importantly, the moons themselves are made from lunar meteorites, so they have a warmer, more variable tone than the rest of the dial and its Weidmanstätten pattern. It’s a subtle touch, but the nerds among us might appreciate it. replica watches for sale
Omega developed a new manual-winding movement for the new Speedmaster Moon Phase Meteorite, the Omega 9914. The case loses some weight by using this manual-winding movement instead of an automatic. Through the sapphire crystal caseback, this new movement has the beautiful finishing and architecture of other manual-winding Speedmaster movements, with curved stripes radiating from the balance wheel to the entire bridge. It appears to be a moonphase version of the 9908, with a 60-hour power reserve, anti-magnetic to 15,000 gauss, and Master Chronometer certified to guarantee an accuracy of 0/+5 seconds per day.
Firstly, these are beautiful watches, and the appeal of the Speedmaster Moonphase is not unattractive to me because it is actually wearable. Clearly, this is brand value, the new movement is no slouch, and this watch is the most wearable modern moonphase watch Omega offers.
