 Patek Philippe launches Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph Ref. 5924G


 


Only at that year’s “Watches & Wonders” exhibition, Patek Philippe introduced a series of new products, including a pair of new models: the Calatrava Travel Time Ref. 5224R and the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph Ref. 5924G. The Ref. 5924G signifies the first time that Patek Philippe has created a chronograph inside the style of the pilot sequence, combining a vertically along with flyback chronograph, a twin time zone function, and a pointer-type date display synchronized to be able to local time.


The Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph is made of white gold or platinum and has a blue-gray sunburst dial or a khaki environmentally friendly lacquered dial. The dimension of the watch is the same as often the Pilot Travel Time Ref. 5524, both of which are 40 mm and 13. 05 mm thick. Powering the watch is the self-winding CH 28-520 C FUS movement, identical to the one in the Nautilus ref. 5990. This movement brings together a dual-time mechanism, bidirectional adjustment, and a day/night signal, first seen in the Aquanaut Travel Time Ref. 5164A launched in 2011, and a top to bottom coupled flyback chronograph 1st seen in the ref. 5980 launched in 2006. At 12 o'clock is an analog time display synchronized to regional time, while a single-second chronograph minute counter is in 6 o'clock, and a couple round windows at a few and 9 o'clock suggest whether it is day or night time in each time zone.


It is worth mentioning that by reducing the running seconds table at six o'clock, the actual movement can adopt the suitable design of the vertical coupling mechanism, that is, the fourth products is integrated into the straight clutch assembly in the center of the particular movement, and no additional accessory is required to reposition the secs hand to the sub-dial. This specific fully exploits the true features of the vertical coupling method, allowing the chronograph to perform at its best, and because the clutch and the chronograph mere seconds wheel are located within the strength flow range of the gear coach, the impact on the amplitude will be minimal, which is particularly well suited for this dial design as it can use the chronograph moments hand as a running just a few seconds hand without causing gigantism loss.
