TUDOR unveils new variant of Pelagos with no date. The TUDOR Pelagos FXD was created in collaboration with a special unit of the French Navy and features some new feature-forward features. Tudor, National Ocean and Underwater Voyage
The link between Tudor watches and the National Marine Corps dates back to 1956, when some Oyster Prince Submariners were submitted to the Navy for evaluation. Management found the watches fit for purpose and agreed to order more units for the army. As a result, Tudor became the "Official Supplier of the French Navy". The new Tudor Pelagos FXD evokes that connection, but also sets a new tone.
This watch was created in collaboration with combat swimmers of the French Navy. Therefore, the watch has some functional features, such as a solid monolithic case. Last but not least, it comes with a bezel that rotates in both directions, which can be combined with a compass for underwater navigation.

The TUDOR Pelagos FXD features a titanium case with a diameter of 42mm and a height of 12.75mm. It's made from a single piece of titanium, and the strap is also part of the case, so it's fixed. The watch also has a bidirectional rotating bezel with graduations from 60 to 0. This means that it does not meet the ISO standard 6425:2018 for diving watches, but instead focuses on the requirements of underwater navigation. Tudor Pelagos FXD in-house movement
The in-house movement MT5602 makes the hands move here. It provides hours, minutes and seconds, but no date. However, it does feature automatic winding and a 70-hour weekend power reserve. Tudor also installed a large balance wheel with variable inertia, attached to the bridge. The non-magnetic silicon spring operates here at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).
Although the movement is still hidden behind a solid case, manufacturers still decorate it with sandblasted or polished surfaces and laser decoration. The winding rotor is made of tungsten and bears the TUDOR lettering. Last but not least, the Tudor Pelagos FXD has a COSC Observatory certificate which guarantees a maximum rate deviation of -4 to +6 seconds per day. However, watchmakers made more difficulties for themselves and insisted on a maximum deviation of -2 to +4 seconds for a fully assembled watch.
Strap with Velcro and extra rubber strap
The watch comes on a dark blue textile strap with grey stripes in the middle, made by Julien Faure in France.
