ORIS HÖLSTEIN EDITION 2022 FULL STEEL WORLDTIMER

Oris Hölstein Edition 2022 Full Steel Worldtimer is all about the 1990s

Spanning the 1970s, this is a revival of the landmark GMT model of the 1990s to celebrate the brand's 118th birthday on June 1. cheap replica watches

Vintage watches from the 1960s and 1970s have been all the rage over the past decade, so it's no surprise that some brands are pressing fast-forward buttons on the timeline. We've already seen this trend in the fashion world, where the 1980s and 1990s were highly revered and a great source of inspiration for recent collections. To mark its 118th birthday, Swiss brand Oris has released a Holstein 2022 edition based on an all-steel World Time watch from the late 1990s, which features a landmark in-house movement. It's bold, it's different, it's not going to be voluntary...

The third Holstein model
Oris was founded in the Swiss village of Holstein in 1904, and its limited-edition watches use the Holstein denomination. We first saw it on the Holstein 2020 edition, a bronze version of the 65 chronograph. The following year, Oris released the Hölstein Edition 2021, a compact take on the Big Crown with a sleek interior movement. The Hölstein Edition 2022 marks its third limited edition, celebrating the revival of the all-steel Worldtimer model from 1997, with a total of 250 Oris teddy bears on the caseback. The mechanical all-steel Worldtimer from 1997 was an important model for Oris, marking the brand's resurgence after the devastating effects of the quartz crisis of the 1970s and 1980s.Corum replica

Typical 1990s GMT watch
Despite the word Worldtimer, the 1997 model is a GMT/dual hour watch. Equipped with the innovative Oris calibre 690, the local time can be adjusted by one hour clockwise (+) and counterclockwise (-) via pushers on the case straps at 4 and 8 o'clock. The advantage of the pusher-activated jump eliminates the need to fiddle with the screw-down crown. As time moves past midnight, the date corresponding to local time is also advanced.

This isn't the first time the display has returned to Oris. Re-edited in 2017 (20th Anniversary) on the up to 44.7mm Big Crown ProPilot, the convenient button is replaced by a bezel to adjust the local time in one-hour increments, another intuitive and user-friendly mechanism Oris developing.

The Hölstein Edition 2022 is faithful to the all-steel watch of the early 1990s and retains the pusher in the strap. However, the push-button buttons on the 2007 model have been replaced by larger, rounded, rectangular buttons that are easier to operate. While the specifications of the original 1997 Worldtimer are not included, the limited edition 36.5mm stainless steel case suggests this may be the original case size. The case thickness of the new asymmetrical model has been increased to accommodate the sturdy crown guard and larger-sized pushers, as well as the thick strap covered by the round bezel, with indents on the strap. Given the thickness of the case, the screw-in crown, and the sealed caseback, the water resistance is only 50 meters compared to the ProPilot's 100m - no doubt limited by the presence of push rods in the strap. The brightly polished case sides, bezel, pushers and central links of the stainless steel bracelet give the watch a smooth appearance and contrast with the satin-brushed finish on the surfaces of the outer links.Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore replica

Like the original Oris Full Steel Worldtimer, the indication layout is similar to the Hölstein 2022 edition: home time is displayed in a subdial at 3 o'clock, a wedge-shaped aperture at 9 o'clock indicates night or day; running (and cracked) seconds sub-dial Positioned at 9 o'clock; the date is displayed in a tri-beveled rectangular aperture at 6 o'clock, and the plus and minus signs on the dial correspond to the buttons on the strap.

However, the original silver dial is now blue-black, with a series of concentric ridges on the chapter ring, and Super-LumiNova-treated numerals applied. The central hand for the local time and the hand for the home time are also treated with Super-LumiNova, as well as the dots around the chapter ring that mark the hours. Sloping flange with white minute markers allows for precise readings. Contrasting red details on the running seconds hand and positive and negative indications with red triangles add another colour to the dial.

Caliber 690
Before the introduction of the 110 calibre in 2014, the 690 calibre that powered the all-steel world timepiece was Oris’ most complicated movement. Although it is hidden under the screw-down caseback and features an Oris teddy bear in aviator attire, the 690 calibre, adapted from the ETA 2836-2, features the iconic red bidirectional oscillating weight. This automatic movement offers a power reserve of 38 hours and beats at 4Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour.Jacob & Co. Astronomia Solar
