Patek Philippe Chronograph 5172G and Perpetual Calendar 5320G Now Available With Stylish Salmon Dials

A duo of vintage-inspired watches inspired directly from the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva

Patek Philippe brings us two new timepieces inspired by vintage watches from the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva. The first version was the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 5320G. Reference 5230 was introduced in 2017 with a cream dial. Although the watch is no longer part of the current collection, Patek Philippe has decided to relaunch it with a stunning new aesthetic. The second version is the Patek Philippe Chronograph 5172G, launched in 2019 in a beautiful dark blue. For both versions, Patek Philippe has opted to outfit the watch with a beautiful gilded opalescent rose gold dial, or what most would call a salmon dial. Let's take a look at these two fashionable beauties together.

There is something magical about the salmon dial. They have legendary status among watch lovers and I am a fan too. But despite this legendary status, you don't see many salmon platters "in the wild". Also, there is a right and a wrong way to handle this color. However, let Patek Philippe bring you two exquisite salmon dial beauties. Both references have become part of the brand's collections over the past few years, but these new aesthetics could soon become fan favorites. Especially the 5172G Chronograph, a swiss automatic watches that will capture the hearts of many Patek Philippe lovers.

Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 5320G
But let's start with the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 5320G. This timepiece debuted in 2017 with a white gold case, cream lacquered dial and brown leather strap. This is a watch that introduces a casual chic style, with a dial design with Arabic numerals reminiscent of vintage military timepieces. While the color combination of that watch is absolutely stunning, Patek Philippe has now relaunched the 5320G with a new aesthetic that is even more striking than the 2017 model.

But before we get to the dial, let's start with the extraordinary case. The round white gold case is 40mm in diameter and 11.13mm in height. It's sized to fit every wrist, thanks in part to its excellent claw lugs. Check out those lugs and their tertiary design! Isn't this pure beauty? The lugs add character to an already beautiful case. The watch is water-resistant to 30 meters and features sapphire crystal on the front and back.

Stunning gold-plated opalescent rose gold dial
Now let's discuss the new dial colors. Patek Philippe chose to equip the new 5320G with a gold-plated opalescent rose gold dial. We tend to use the word "salmon" to refer to almost any pink dial that is similar to this hue. But not every pink or salmon dial is a pretty color. However, Patek Philippe has done it brilliantly. The color of this dial and the color of the 5171G chronograph as we'll learn in a minute is perfect for a "salmon dial". From now on, I'll refer to these models whenever I describe how much I love seeing salmon dials. It has a little texture, give it some extra depth and the result is amazing.Jacob & Co. The gold-plated opalescent rose gold dial is contrasted by charcoal-grey gold applied numerals with a luminous coating. The dots next to the numbers are also a nice detail that gets some extra points for the style. The syringe-style hour and minute hands are made of black gold and filled with white luminous. The dial is designed for easy reading of the different features of the perpetual calendar and moon phase functions. The analog date display is located at 6 o'clock, and the moon phase display is located there. The day/night indicator is to the left of the date, and the leap year indicator is to the right. Day and month display at 12 o'clock. The detailed execution of the aperture is simply stunning. Overall, the dial design looks clean and effective at first glance. But look again,

Patek Philippe Caliber 324 SQ
If you turn the watch, you will see the beautiful in-house movement 324 SQ. Based on Patek Philippe's legendary Caliber 324, this self-winding movement consists of a total of 367 parts. Running at 28,800vph, the movement has 29 jewels and offers a power reserve of 35-45 hours. In addition, the movement is equipped with the brand's Gyromax balance wheel and Spiromax balance spring. The first thing that catches the eye is the large 21K gold oscillating weight engraved with the brand's famous Calatrava Cross. However, if you look closely at the movement below, you will see that it is perfectly finished with chamfered and polished edges, Côtes de Genève and pearls.

The watch comes with a hand-stitched chocolate brown alligator leather strap with square scales and a white gold folding clasp with a Calatrava cross. The watch is priced at 84,000 euros. The overall combination of the gold-plated opalescent rose gold dial and contrasting charcoal grey elements is the winner. Also, I love that Patek Philippe reintroduces the reference 5320G as it represents a less formal but still stunning aesthetic in the Grand Complications collection.replica watches for men

Patek Philippe Chronograph 5172G
The second timepiece from the brand with the same aesthetic is a new version of the Patek Philippe Chronograph 5172G. The 5172G is one of the favorite Patek Philippe timepieces for many aficionados. So, for many, this could be the go-to for Patek Philippe releases this year. I totally agree as it is an amazing chronograph. A new salmon dial version of the 5172G joins the dark blue version that debuted in 2019. That watch is still part of the current collection, and with new releases it's hard to pick a favorite. Both have their own charm and look equally stunning.

The new version of the Chronograph 5172G has a white gold case with a diameter of 41 mm and a thickness of 11.45 mm. Both sides of the watch are sapphire crystal, and the front crystal has a beautiful box shape. Speaking of the chassis, you can see the resemblance to the 5320G chassis we just discussed. The chronograph case also features the same round shape and three-stage lugs. On the right side of the case, you'll find nicely shaped buttons. They recall the promoters of the famous Patek Philippe 1463 “Tasti Tondi” produced in the 1950s.

Attractive and effective dial design
The dial of the new 5172G also features a gold-plated opalescent rose gold dial with contrasting charcoal grey elements. The applied Arabic numerals have a white luminescent coating that glows green in darker conditions. We also see the same syringe-style hour and minute hands as on the perpetual calendar model. The central chronograph hands and the smaller hands of the two registers also receive a nice anthracite treatment.brm gulf watches

When it comes to the layout, you can see that the two registers are placed just below the center pinion. This layout might feel unbalanced for some, but I like it. The large registers and their placement give the watch a lot of character. Most importantly, the placement ensures that the 60-second tick remains the same. Patek Philippe did drop the numerals at 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock and replaced them with two dots to indicate the hours. Although some elements are slightly off-center, the dial design feels very balanced, and this new color looks stunning. As you might expect, the execution is top-notch. The small seconds at 9 o’clock and the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock are also contrasted by a circular texture.

Patek Philippe CH 29-535 PS movement
Inside the white gold case, Patek Philippe equips this watch with an in-house movement CH 29-535 PS. The hand-wound chronograph movement consists of 270 parts. It runs at 28,800vph, has 33 jewels, has 11 bridges, and has a 65-hour power reserve with the chronograph disengaged. In addition, it is equipped with a Gyromax balance wheel and a Breguet balance spring with the Patek Philippe seal. The Côtes de Genève stripes, chamfered and polished edges, and the rounded grain finish of the movement are stunning.

Like the 5320G perpetual calendar, this timepiece also features a hand-stitched chocolate brown alligator leather strap with square indexes and a white gold folding clasp with Calatrava cross. With this new introduction, the choice between the blue version and this new one is tough. They all have their own unique charm that will appeal to fans of Patek Philippe chronographs. I'm still hesitating which version is my favorite!

Both new releases are absolutely stunning. They introduce a trendy aesthetic that will make the heart beat faster for many discount replica watch lovers. Also, it's great to see Patek Philippe opting to launch new watches that are more casual and stylish. I really like seeing that side of the brand. These models, along with the almanac travel time reference. 5326G and Calatrava reference.
