How to wear the Richard Mille RM 035 Ultimate Edition
We remember all too well the first time we saw tennis prodigy Rafa Nadal wearing a decidedly large watch during a match. Not just for soft warm-ups, but for quick rallies in his familiar aggressive style. How can this be comfortable? What Nadal wears is not an ordinary steel case watch, but a dedicated high-tech timing "machine" for which the Richard Mille brand is famous. In 2017, the brand launched the Richard Mille RM 035 Ultimate Edition – alpine skier Alexis Pinturault was the lucky brand partner to wear this limited edition timepiece. He has been wearing a similar Richard Mille RM 035 model since 2014, now replaced by this "ultimate edition". By the way, Pinturault won his 19th World Cup title in Adelboden in January and is now the most successful French alpine skier of all time. So Richard Mille has teamed up again in 2014 with an extraordinary athlete and partner.
What's new in this "Ultimate Edition"? The case is Carbon TPT and the watch is limited, which makes it even more desirable. Some red accents add a bit of color to the rather drab palette. However, red is not new, but has been seen in other Richard Mille timepieces before. Like most Richard Mille watches, you have a skeletonized movement and finer materials, such as grade 5 titanium spline screws on the bridges and case. The movement offers a comfortable 55-hour power reserve, and the inner baseplate and bridges are also made from the same grade 5 titanium for greater strength.
One might ask why a professional tennis player or alpine skier would need to wear a watch while competing. Of course there is no strict necessity, but it is a challenge for a brand to demonstrate the expertise of watchmakers and designers, i.e. a fully equipped mechanical watch with all its highly sensitive components inside the movement, Can withstand extreme environments: punishment, extreme conditions, altitude and temperature changes.
However, we think this watch is not only suitable for competitive athletes, but also looks very good with a smart button-down shirt or even a black suit, as shown in our pictures.
