Ulysse Nardin taps designer Amoureuxpeintre to create minimalist skeleton
With frosted sapphire crystal.
The Blast “Amoureuxpeintre” reinterprets the Ulysse Nardin skeleton watch in monochrome with a prominent “X” as its logo, and was created in collaboration with Kyrgyz streetwear designer Vsevolod “Sever” Cherepanov, also known as Amoureuxpeintre, who was one of the first designers to use augmented reality printing on fabric.
Understated and minimalist, the new Blast high quality replica watches features a 42mm sandblasted titanium case and a unique frosted sapphire dial that partially hides the skeletonized “X” movement, leaving only a glimpse of the movement. According to Ulysse Nardin, the artist drew inspiration for the design from the frosted glass panels in his office.
Ulysse Nardin is known for its groundbreaking Freak series of watches, which pioneered the use of silicon components in mechanical watchmaking. But in recent years, Ulysse Nardin has made some odd design choices, including the decision to make the letter “X” the centerpiece of its designs. The collaboration with Amoureuxpeintre hides the letter “X” and transforms the Blast case into an understated creation with an all-black finish, resulting in a distinctive, eye-catching luxury replica watches.
Styling aside, the latest Blast is quintessentially Ulysse Nardin mechanically, which is to say impeccable. While the Blast collection doesn’t enjoy the same stature or historical significance as the Freak, it still embodies Ulysse Nardin’s commitment to contemporary timepieces, with all regulators (balance spring, balance wheel, escapement and pallet fork) of its high-spec in-house movements made from silicon.
Frosted Sapphire
The focal point of the Blast “Amoureuxpeintre” is the frosted sapphire crystals on the front and back of the watch, which only give a faint glimpse of the iconic “X” movement with its angular bridges. Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron
The 42mm titanium case is finished in all-matte black, sandblasted and then PVD-coated black. In keeping with Ulysse Nardin’s tradition, the limited edition number is engraved on a plaque on the left side of the case. The all-black exterior is complemented by charcoal-grey skeletonized hour and minute hands, which are coated in grey Super-LumiNova.
Inside, the same UN-371 movement as the standard model is displayed only in outline. Although the UN-371 is a time-only movement, it has notable features, including a 96-hour power reserve, or nearly four days. It also features a proprietary oversized balance wheel, which, like the escapement and hairspring, is made of silicon.
