With the help of Richard Mille, who cleverly ushered in a new world of watches, URWERK did create what I now call contemporary horology. From the quartz age to the late 90s, watchmakers have focused on the past - changing the same watch again and again. 103 is a real milestone. It represents a whole new generation of watchmakers and designers (my generation!) to create a watch from their own perspective. Sci-fi references, casual styles, and reflections of the entire time measuring device are undoubtedly post-quartz. This is the moment when I believe we can begin to regard watches as artworks.
Like most excellent works of art, it is not immediately satisfied. Richard Mille has learned the familiar features of the watch to ease people into the modern world. URWERK eliminates all of this. For me personally, I must admit that before 103.03, I didn't fully "understand". This is the first time that the case has exposed more publicly.
