Grand Seiko Spring Drive Ref. SBGA437, SBGA439, SBGA465 and SBGA467
Powered by Spring Drive, the SBGA437, SBGA439, SBGA465 and SBGA467 are the four latest models to debut in the Grand Seiko Heritage Series.
Shinshu, Nagano Prefecture, where all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches are produced, was once a major center for silk production. Grand Seiko’s latest offerings include the SBGA437, SBGA439 and SBGA467, all three Spring Drive watches with silky sunray dials, while the SBGA465 has a special dial inspired by shimmering frost.
All four watches feature stainless steel cases with a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of 12.3 mm, representing contemporary interpretations of the Grand Seiko style. The case features long, faceted lugs that extend from the middle of the case and curve down to the strap, all ergonomically designed for comfort. The case measures just 46.6mm from lug tip to lug, making it suitable for a variety of wrist sizes.
The geometry of the case is emphasized by its striking surface treatment, which combines hair-brushed surfaces with Zaratsu polished flat surfaces for mirror-like, distortion-free reflections. The crown is secured with three screws, the case is rated for 10 bar pressure, and the solid case back protects the movement inside. All in all, the case is designed for reliable everyday wear.
SBGA437
The silk sunburst pattern radiates outward, catching light from every angle. It has a soft texture, not unlike the finest silk, and can only be made by applying soft silver through a special silver plating method.
SBGA439
The alluring and ever-changing hues of the moonlit sky at night are perfectly captured on this midnight blue sunray dial. The color oscillates between a warm blue in some lights and a deep black in others.
SBGA467
This dynamic black dial is the ideal backdrop for the diamond-cut hands and indexes, which stand out with their sharp relief against the inky sunray texture.
SBGA465
Winter in Shinshu comes suddenly. Frost will form on the trees at night, sparkle in the morning sun for a brief, beautiful moment, and then melt. The fleeting beauty of this phenomenon is captured here.
Spring drive 9R65
Spring Drive combines the high torque and never-ending power source of a mechanical watch with the high precision and stability of a quartz watch. Produced by the Shinshu Watch Studio in Nagano, the 9R65 movement is accurate to one second per day and features a smooth sliding second hand, a feature unique to the Spring Drive.
