Zenith launches new color matching of Chronomaster Original 38mm
As the contemporary successor to the famous Zenith A386, one of 1969’s seminal round-case stainless steel El Primero references, the latest version of the Zenith Chronomaster Original features a bold black dial base, a nod to the iconic three-tone dial. The color dial has been completely reinterpreted. This debut marks the first time this color combination has been available in a 38mm stainless steel case.
To account for the new color options, all other elements, including the date display at 04:30 in the trapezoidal window and the 1/10-second and 10-second hour markers, had to be inverted from white to black and vice versa.
The Chronomaster Original perfectly retains the unique beauty of the A386 multi-scale, while cleverly integrating a 1/10-second chronograph into its design. It showcases a central red chronograph seconds hand that completes a complete rotation of the dial in 10 seconds.
Sharing the same overall silhouette and proportions as its historic predecessor from 1969, the Chronomaster Original features a 38mm round steel case with a raised domed crystal. Of course, it features the mushroom chronograph pushers, faceted lugs, and the combination of radial brushed and polished surfaces that were all hallmarks of the first Chronomaster. However, the steel bracelet took on a new design, replacing the open "step" style of 1969 with solid links.
The Chronomaster Original is equipped with the latest version of the El Primero movement, called the El Primero 3600, which operates at a frequency of up to 5 Hz and enables 1/10th of a second indication. This in-house movement offers a power reserve of up to 60 hours. The sapphire glass case back adopts a sleeker and more open design, allowing the modern architecture to be seen at a glance, and the five-pointed Zenith star on the hollow oscillating weight takes center stage.
