Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon Concept "Spider-Man"

The latest collaboration between Audemars Piguet and Marvel Comics: Royal Oak (Audemars Piguet) Tourbillon Concept replica watches for men"Spider-Man"

This is your luxurious neighborhood spiderman.

2021 feels like a long time ago. In April of the same year, under the fantastic and crazy vision of Francois Bennahmias, Audemars Piguet released a six-figure Royal Oak concept tourbillon with a popular black panther inlaid in the center of the dial. Miniature sculptures of the characters - more design cues poured out on the case.

Compared to how the watch community has reacted to it, my description of the watch has been rather underwhelming. I know where some of the outraged watch lovers are coming from, but some of those strokes miss the point of the watch, or Bennahmias' waning brand stewardship.

At its core, the Black Panther Concept Tourbillon combines cultural touchpoints with modern watchmaking craftsmanship. The result is a handcrafted sculpture with the finest detail and appreciation for metal.

I was lucky enough to experience that high quality watches replica for a long time and came away impressed by the craftsmanship rather than offended by the idea. It's also been a hit culturally, as we've seen celebrities gravitate toward watches, whether it's Kevin Hart or NBA stars Draymond Green and Spencer Dinwiddie.

Knowing that Ben Namias is a pop culture fanatic (and a lover of all things movies and comic books) helps put the thinking into context. After sitting with the Panthers for a few years - we now have a new contender.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Spider-Man Tourbillon is Trinity's latest Marvel comic book timepiece crossover. In terms of literal explanations: this thing is largely self-explanatory, and in many ways continues the design decisions made in the previous release.

This means that the base model is still the Concept series, in a very nice 42mm size (not too hot: all AP RO Concepts should be this size). It has an internal chapter ring minute reading and a tourbillon.

The dial alternates black PVD-coated gold hour-markers and Arabic numerals, covered by hands of the same material. The hands and numerals are white luminescent, which turns blue in the dark, which the brand says "subtly references the world of Spider-Man." Lest we forget the web-slinging miniature 3D sculpture of Spider-Man in the center of the frame.replica watches for sale

But where the Black Panther used a design derived from and inspired by Wakanda's rich vibranium mines, the watch appears to be taking a more web-based approach. For that matter, I wouldn't call it a skeleton dial, but rather a "web dial" that looks partially skeletonized.

The strap on the Black Panther is all purple, but Spiderman opted for black with red accents (why not blue, I don't know). AP is offering an interchangeable strap system on the Concept for the first time, so in addition to black and gray there are also black and red straps. Both are fitted with a titanium clasp.

The overall finish of the titanium case alternates between polished and sandblasted surfaces, with no added engraving like previous models. The case itself is titanium, but the bezel is black ceramic.high quality replica watches

And then there's Peter Parker himself. The dial art finds Spider-Man waving around Manhattan, with one hand out of frame (ostensibly clutching some cobwebs), while the other reaches forward, as if from a 3D movie screen, ready to shoot some— — um — more webs.

Now, instead of taking the form of any big-screen adaptations of the character, Spider-Man's design form is lifted straight from the pages of comic books. That's always been the definitive description of AP's partnership with Marvel on these releases. These are Marvel Comics characters, not an extension of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sorry, I don't know the exact artist that inspired this (I'm only a nerd with so many forms in my head), but I have to say that the dynamism of the sculpture really imparts a sense of movement to the literally frozen, lifeless image. Hats off to the watch designer as the back of the Parker narrowly escapes the wrath of the tourbillon.

Inside this watch is Caliber 2974 – a new movement based on Caliber 2948, which also represents a variation of Caliber 2965 from the Black Panther. Openworks utilized the full engineering prowess of the AP team to reduce the movement to just the necessary parts needed to make Spider-Man the star of the show.Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon "Spiderman"

That leaves us with Spider-Man basically emerging from a black void, swinging around a tourbillon. According to the Associated Press, "The character's silhouette and volume are first cut from a single block of platinum using a CNC machine. The superhero suit is then laser-engraved for textural differences, giving it a fabric look."

After this process, touch-ups and engraving-related finishing are done by hand by an artisan. The painting is also a step done by hand. All in all, it's a 50-hour process.

Using the same base case as the previous version is a nice move. If there's one single consensus from the last release, it's the overall form of the 42mm case.

There's enough experimentation with a swiss replica Watches like this. If only one part isn't broken, you certainly won't be repairing it. Instead, AP and the team left it as a relatively blank canvas for the Spider-Man sculpture to shine.

I haven't had much fun seeing this IRL yet, but if it's anything like Black Panther, these images you see here don't do it justice.

In some ways, it's a goofy collaboration -- combining comic books with superlative (superlative) luxury watchmaking -- but maybe it's also brave. With limited numbers, this is sure to find its way into collectibles like its predecessor.

But it doesn't end there, as it did with the Black Panther, the Associated Press will also be offering a unique variant of the watch for auction to benefit First Book and the Ashoka Society.
