Breitling Classic AVI REF. 765 1964 RE-EDITION AB09451A1B1X1

Breitling commemorates the 70th anniversary of the 'Co-Pilot' with the launch of three new timepieces based on the original REF. Chapter 765

The unveiling of the 42mm Classic AVI injects a universal element into this rugged pilot's chronograph inspired by the 1953 Ref. 765 AVI Co-Pilot and four legendary aircraft. Meanwhile, the 46mm Super AVI range gets a bold new addition with the introduction of the black ceramic Mosquito Night Fighter. Breitling also amazed collectors with an extremely limited re-issue of the AVI Co-Pilot from 1964, giving the classic sports replica watches for men a new look.

Breitling's groundbreaking pilot's watch just got easier to use. The new Classic AVI series takes the famous design codes established by the 46mm Super AVI and places them in the 42mm format. The result is a durable, easy-to-wear watch that fits most wrists.

But let's take a step back to where AVI started. In the 1930s, Breitling's Huit aviation division rose to prominence, creating precision cockpit clocks and dedicated wristwatch chronographs for the fledgling field of aviation at the time. Twenty years later, in 1953, Breitling introduced to the world another innovative flight instrument, the Ref. 765 AVI, a pilot's chronograph with a rotating 12-hour bezel for recording flight times. This easy-to-operate, legible watch proved to be an indispensable tool for pilots, so it was soon renamed the AVI "Co-Pilot".

For 2021, this groundbreaking pilot's replica watches for sale serves as the inspiration for the Super AVI, a line of rugged 46mm timepieces that pay homage, in color and design, to four of history's greatest aircraft: the North American Aviation P-51 Mustang , Vought F4U Corsair, Curtiss P-40 Warhawk and de Havilland Mosquito.

“People love the rugged, understated look of the Super AVI, but not everyone has wrists big enough to pull off the oversized dimensions that give it a true tool watch feel,” said Breitling CEO Georges Kern. "Classic AVI trades some features to allow for a compact format that our customers have been asking for. The Classic and Super models will now co-exist, offering even more options."

Classic AVI doesn't have the GMT complication, which gives the Super some advantages. The introduction of the Breitling Caliber 23 chronograph movement further embellished the look and also made the Classic AVI more attractive from a value standpoint.

Fans of the collection will find that the color schemes of the four legendary aircraft have not changed: a black dial and gold-brown leather strap for the versatile Mustang, a blue dial and black strap for the Navy Corsair, and a khaki dial with brown strap for the The Warhawk's camo look, black dial and black ceramic bezel on a brown strap captures the Mosquito known as the "Wood Wonder". The color of the aircraft circles and markers add a bright touch to the hands and sub-dials. The engraved outline of the aircraft appears on the case back, and all models are available in stainless steel, as well as an 18K red gold Mustang version. All styles are available with a choice of topstitched calfskin strap or five-row metal bracelet. Breitling Classic AVI REF. 765 1964 RE-EDITION

As a Classic AVI pro tip, scan the dial to locate the "hidden" GPS coordinates of your Breitling chronograph. They are a nod to the spec stamp that used to appear on vintage cockpit clocks, including those made by Huit's aviation division.

Super Avi Mosquito Night Fighter
In an age of widespread aluminum and steel shortages, the engineers behind de Havilland Mosquito turned to a material that's still plentiful: wood. The "Wooden Wonder" caused a stir when it surpassed its metal contemporaries to become one of the fastest aircraft built between 1940 and 1950.

The Mosquito had many executions, including a light bomber, a transport plane, and a photographic reconnaissance plane. But the Super AVI Mosquito Night Fighter was inspired by Night Fighter 2, an all-black two-seater designed to glide quietly through the night sky. The high quality replica watches pays homage to the aircraft's dark livery with its black ceramic case, black military leather strap and black dial with anthracite subdials. The overall monochromatic look is contrasted by titanium buttons, crown and buckle.

As with all Super AVIs, the unique design includes large, legible Arabic numerals and a sturdy 46mm case. Its knurled bezel and fluted crown provide optimal grip, even with gloves on. Pilots and other travelers will appreciate its ability to keep track of a second time zone using the 24-hour scale on the inner bezel and the gray-tipped GMT hand. The engine of the Super AVI is the COSC-certified Breitling in-house Caliber B04 movement, which can provide approximately 70 hours of power. The movement is visible through the open titanium case back etched with the silhouette of the Nightmaster.

Living Legends: Ref. 765 AVI 1964 Reprint
The original Ref. was first published in 1953. The 765 AVI, known as the Co-Pilot, was a workhorse timepiece designed to serve pilots in the often harsh conditions of a single-seat cockpit. Its size, legibility and ease of use make it a trusted flight instrument.

By the 1960s, the AVI's minimalist style and large proportions made it a swiss replica Watches outside of aviation circles. A special 765 AVI from 1964, with a black bezel and reverse panda dial, was a favorite of celebrities and sports stars, including French skier Jean-Claude Kily, who did all three alpine skiing in Paris It became famous for wearing it when winning the gold medal in the 1968 Winter Games. Today, the watch has become an extremely limited replica.

Each of the 164 pieces faithfully reproduces this executed design. It includes a real time hesalite crystal, as well as the baton indexes and luminous pencil hands used on the original. The re-edition also features modern improvements, such as a durable amorphous diamond-like carbon (ADLC) coating that gives the bezel its black color. In keeping with its vintage character, the watch is powered by Caliber B09, a movement Breitling currently manufactures that is, appropriately, hand-wound. The re-edition limited edition references the watch's original 1964 edition, with "One of 164" engraved on the case back.

As Georges Kern said: “Everything about this re-edition is Breitling because you can see the roots of our aviation watch continuing, but it’s this simplicity that gives it its universal appeal. appeal. That's why AVI, in all its forms, has stood the test of time as one of our most iconic collections." Ulysse Nardin Ocean Race Diver 1503-170LE-2A-TOR/3A
