Franck Muller presents the Grand Central Tourbillon Flash watch
Franck Muller is a relatively young watchmaking brand, and its design ideas are often unconstrained. It should be pointed out that these whimsical ideas have strong technical strength as a solid foundation. Today, the brand combines a fearless attitude and a complex movement to launch the Grand Central Tourbillon Flash watch.
The new watch has a diameter of 36.5 mm and a thickness of 12.3 mm. The case is made of carbon fiber and black PVD-coated titanium (inner bezel). It adopts the Curvex CX architecture, which will first come out in 2021, and presents the iconic tonneau shape, which is both charming and elegant, and abstract and free. The black and gray stripes of the carbon fiber case create a subtle texture compared to the black PVD-coated crown and buckle. This watch is equipped with a sapphire crystal mirror and has a water resistance of 30 meters.
The micro-blasted matte black dial has a tourbillon, but it is not at the traditional 6 o'clock position, but at the rare central position. For this reason, Franck Muller had to rebuild the mechanism of the tourbillon and even the entire movement to present this technical feat. Both the central seconds tip and the block hour markers are made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) in a rich color (orange, blue or green), which appears almost fluorescent when illuminated by light, contrasting nicely with the black background. Around the tourbillon frame, there are white hollow hour and minute hands coated with SuperLuminova fluorescent material to ensure clear and easy to read.
The new watches are equipped with the MVT FM CX 36T-CTR movement, which vibrates at 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz), is equipped with a carefully polished miniature automatic rotor, and can provide up to 4 days of power storage.
Franck Muller Grand Central Tourbillon Flash watches are supplied with a nylon strap (lined in calfskin) matching the color of the dial, with a black PVD-coated brushed steel buckle.
