New Bulgari Aluminum x Gran Turismo special edition (and concept car)
The Italian watchmaker has teamed up with the famous driving simulator game to launch not one but two fantastic games... and one of them isn't a buy replica watches!
A few years ago, it would have been unimaginable that a top luxury watch brand would partner with a video game license. In fact, perceptions of gaming culture have fundamentally changed over the years. thoroughly. Gaming was once considered a hobby for geeks and teenagers, but has now become cool and appeals to a wider audience. Thanks to Bulgari and Gran Turismo, you can now express your love for gaming culture on your wrist. On the occasion of the 2023 Gran Turismo World Series Finals in Barcelona, Bulgari launches the Aluminum x Gran Turismo Special Edition. The brand also fully unveiled the Bulgari Aluminum Vision GT concept, a spectacular supercar designed specifically for the Gran Turismo game.
Let's start with some basic information about the Gran Turismo racing simulation video game. Released by Sony in 1997, it was the brainchild of Kazunori Yamauchi. Gran Turismo was an instant hit and its immense popularity has never diminished. With realistic graphics and licensed cars, this realistic driving simulation ranks among the greatest and most influential racing games of all time. Its reach extends beyond partnerships with video games (including TAG Heuer in the swiss replica watches industry), merchandise, events and collaborations. There was even a movie on screen depicting the life of a sim racer turned pro racer.
The Bulgari Aluminum x Gran Turismo Special Edition embodies the Gran Turismo universe through the bold personality of Bulgari Aluminum. Launched in 1998, this popular watch needs little introduction. At the time, one of the novelties of this eye-catching sports watch was the use of aluminum and rubber, materials not usually associated with luxury watches. The collaboration launches two different GT limited editions: one with a yellow dial and black counters (500 pieces), and one with an anthracite dial and yellow hour markers (1,200 pieces). In keeping with the watch’s racing background, the dial is decorated with a tachymeter scale, a first for the aluminum series. If you don't like the game or the GT universe, that's okay. These are the coolest aluminum special editions yet.
Based on the aluminum chronograph updated for 2023, the best replica watches has a diameter of 41 mm. Its design combines a matte aluminum middle case, a black rubber bezel and a titanium caseback that's been given the DLC treatment and embellished with the GT Vision 10th Anniversary logo. The crown and pushers are made of DLC-coated titanium. Waterproof rating is 100m. The movement inside is Caliber B381, based on the automatic Sellita SW300 (the Sellita version of the ETA 2892) with a Dubois-Depraz module on top. This impressive supercar is the result of a collaboration between Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Executive Director of Product Creation at Bulgari, and Fabio Filippini, automotive designer and design strategist and founder of ACCAEFFE Creative Consulting Ltd. This partnership comes as no surprise to those who have had the opportunity to know Buonamassa and understand his deep passion for automotive design. In Buonamassa’s words: “I envisioned playing with Bulgari’s DNA in a different way, creating a concept car that speaks the same language as Bulgari’s aluminum watches. Its design is based on geometry, purity and angularity. Clear form. It is inspired by the lines of the legendary Italian Gran Turismo racing car of the 1970s, with a sporty three-spoke steering wheel and walnut dashboard. Together, these shapes create an unmistakable Bvlgari aesthetic , resulting in a concept car that is perfectly proportioned and authentic, even in the real world.”
