NEW Zenith Defy Extreme Mirror

First time hands on: Zenith Defy Extreme mirror watch

While few brands in the current watch industry have captured the smaller, more vintage-inspired design trend more effectively and thoroughly than Zenith, the brand still has its sights set on louder, more eye-catching horology. The muscular, ultra-modern Defy Extreme is at the forefront of the second approach, combining an ultra-technical skeleton 1/100-second double escapement chronograph with the brand’s boldest case design. In its latest version, Zenith takes this “heavy watchmaking” collection even further with a full mirror-polished finish. The new Zenith Defy Extreme Mirror combines a gleaming, fully polished monochrome exterior with a truly cutting-edge in-house movement, making it one of the brand’s most eye-catching launches in recent years. buying replica watch

About 0% of the Zenith Defy Extreme Mirror's design could rightly be called "dignified" or "understated," and this bold, spectacular presentation starts with a 45mm wide, 16mm thick stainless steel case. It's a far cry from the first Defy Extreme built in stainless steel, but unlike any of its predecessors, the Defy Extreme Mirror's case has a fully, glossy polish. Every flat surface, every sharp angular facet and every chamfered edge of this familiar shape has been polished to near-Zaratsu levels of reflectivity. The impact of this new finish on the wrist is profound, as the Defy Extreme’s complex geometric case becomes a shining beacon even with the slightest movement. This is especially true for the dodecagonal and circular stepped bezels and the wide wedge-shaped stylized crown guard, as the narrower, more complex surfaces oscillate between overall simplicity and complex reflections depending on the lighting situation. In contrast, the wider surface of the upper case and lugs actually serve as a usable mirror. It’s easy to spot oneself in the reflections of the case and dial, which are reflected in surprising (and from perspective often unflattering) details. Of course, this ultra-reflective, single-finish approach won't be to everyone's taste, but the sheer visual impact of this sporty, chunky case being fully polished is hard to deny. Like the rest of the Defy Extreme range, the Defy Extreme Mirror is a rugged sports watch with radical styling and what Zenith says is the watch's ultra-high water resistance of 200 meters. new Richard Mille RM 35-03 Rafael Nadal

Like the case, the Zenith Defy Extreme Mirror’s skeleton dial is ultra-reflective and monochromatic, but Zenith has taken a slightly different visual strategy. Previous versions of the Defy Extreme have used smoked sapphire for the base of the 12 o’clock power reserve indicator and the three round subdials to visually distinguish these elements from the background of the movement and improve legibility. The Defy Extreme Mirror replaces the sapphire layer with an actual mirror, making this separation even more concrete. The resulting effect is undeniably eye-catching, clearly reflecting its surroundings and harmonizing with a similarly mirrored exterior minute track, polished beveled hour markers, and generous, semi-skeletonized polished paddle handsets. Without the use of any color, and with a near-complete, high-polished look, the subtle differences in the Defy Extreme Mirror's design are highlighted, especially in terms of texture. The tight, deep azure of the subdial scale rings and external chronograph 1/100-second scale become immediate visual highlights, as do the sharply brushed, dark-coated bridges of the skeletonized movement. It may seem counterintuitive for a monochromatic quality replicas watches dedicated to a single finish, but the Defy Extreme Mirror is well worth a closer look.

Like previous models in the series, Zenith powers the Defy Extreme Mirror with its in-house El Primero 9004 automatic chronograph movement. Before adding the chronograph complication itself into the equation, the El Primero 9004 is a solid, modern performance watch with a 50-hour power reserve and a smooth, high-beat 36,000 bph frequency. However, it’s the chronograph function that makes it one of the brand’s most technologically advanced power units. The chronograph has its own dedicated escapement that beats at up to 360,000 bph, or 100 times per second, to enable its fully mechanical 1/100-second chronograph function. This is an impressive achievement from a technical perspective, but it's worth noting that, like most cutting-edge technologies, it's not without its drawbacks. In this case, the ultra-fast chronograph frequency made it extremely power-hungry, depleting the entire power reserve of the movement in just 45 minutes of continuous use. From a visual perspective, the El Primero 9004 is complex and modern, with narrow dark-coated skeleton bridges, matte sandblasting, vertical brushing, and the brand’s signature star-shaped winding rotor. replica Franck Muller Cintree Curvex

To match the case, the Zenith Defy Extreme Mirror’s integrated bracelet is crafted from matching fully polished stainless steel. The strongly faceted H-shaped link design looks attractive, thick and premium on the wrist, but the unified, extremely reflective look it gives the watch in combination with the case is almost overwhelmingly bright and bold. Nonetheless, Zenith also offers the collection’s heavy-duty integrated hook-and-loop strap in black as an option. This sportier, more versatile strap is made from durable black fabric with a tapered matte black rubber in the center, helping to effectively tone down the watch’s exaggerated side while still emphasizing the collection’s rugged, high-performance sportsmanship.

While it may be very successful in the current world of smaller, more retro-style sports watches, Zenith can still create wild horological wonders, and few of these watches are as dual-barreled as the new Zenith Defy Visual and technical impact. Extreme mirror. jacob & co ASTRONOMIA SOLAR
