HYT Returns for 2022 Space Odyssey with New Hastroid and Moon Runner Figures

Under new ownership, now led by industry veteran Davide Cerrato, HYT has embarked on a new chapter in its watchmaking journey with the launch of three new otherworldly creations. HYT Hastroid Supernova Blue H02754-A

When it was learned late last year that the self-proclaimed “meca-fluidic” master HYT would be back in a year, fans of bold, sophisticated, otherworldly watchmaking had many reasons to be excited – a long hiatus.

Suspended in 2020 due to pandemic-related challenges, the brand, known for using mechanically driven fluids to tell time, announced in November 2021 that it had found a new financial backer in Kairos Technology Switzerland SA.

The brand also unveiled a new CEO who will be charged with leading the company forward in the years to come. And that’s Davide Cerrato, former director of Montblanc’s watch division and former head of marketing and product development at Tudor.

So, visited HYT's recent Geneva show. There, we got a hands-on experience with the brand's latest eye-catching creations since the brand's reboot: Hastroid Green Nebula, Hastroid Green Laser and Moon Runner Supernova Blue.

Hastroid Green Nebula

The movement still uses the same technology as all HYT watches. For example, a pair of cam- and lever-operated bellows, one of which has a thermal compensator, expands and contracts to draw two immiscible fluids through a borosilicate capillary with ultrathin walls. In the case of the Hastroid Green Nebula, one of the liquids is clear, while the other is yellow-green. And, as with previous HYT models, the hours are indicated by the distance the colored liquid extends around the circular tube.

Designed for the HYT H5 released in 2020, the movement in the Hastroid Green Nebula has been improved with a central minute, a rarity among HYT timepieces. Another new feature of the HYT is the sapphire dial, which offers views of the bellows and more traditional watchmaking elements such as the balance wheel and gear train.

In addition, the display of the small seconds and the scale of the power reserve indicator are printed on this layer of sapphire. Meanwhile, the minute hand, minute markers, HYT logo and applied hour indexes all feature a green luminous glow that glows abundantly in the dark.

Unlike past HYT creations, the case—with its one-piece skeleton lugs—has an octagonal cushion shape with a layered structure in black titanium and black carbon composite. In terms of looks and dimensions - 48mm x 58.3mm - the Hastroid Green Nebula is a veritable spaceship on the wrist. Wearing his professor-grade glasses and wielding a green tubular lightsaber, Cerrato brings home space exploration and sci-fi inspiration in promotional portraits.

Hastroid Green Laser
The brand quickly followed up with the first Hastroid, which launched in January 2022, with a second version in mid-March: the Hastroid Green Laser. The specifications are basically the same as those of the Green Nebula, only this time green is highlighted on both the case and dial.

The case features a bright green carbon composite combined with black titanium; meanwhile, a ring of green-emitting HyCeram hybrid ceramic composite glows beneath the black titanium honeycomb around the perimeter of the dial. But to ensure adequate contrast (and maintain the correct visual balance), the liquid indicating the time is now black.

Like the Green Nebula, the Hastroid Green Laser comes with a black rubber strap, a black Alcantara embossed insert with green stitching, and a black titanium buckle.

Moon Runner Supernova Blue
You'd think showing a pair of Hastroids would be enough for HYT to mark its return. But last month, the brand went even further, launching the Moon Runner Supernova Blue just ten days after the Green Laser's debut.watches replica high quality

This time, the circular and fluid hour indication (now a blue liquid) is actually a second violin after the central hemispherical moon phase made of blue and grey titanium, accompanied by a pendant suspended by an arched V-shaped bridge. Aperture ring.

Despite the new complications, the Moon Runner has managed to stay consistent with the Hastroid in both its exterior dial design and case shape and proportions. But as the name suggests, the Moon Runner Supernova Blue comes in a striking new colorway: the case is in grey and blue-coated titanium. Meanwhile, blue and black aluminium is deployed on the dial with a white Lumicast decoration.
