The abrupt end of the partnership between Porsche Design and Eterna gives us a hint that future Porsche Design watches will in part yield better designs, given their rich sporting heritage. Well, if you think like me, you won't be surprised by the upcoming Porsche Design 1919 Datetimer Series 1 and 1919 Globetimer Series 1 series. Contrary to public perception, Porsche Design did not design the movements in-house for these watches, as they actually use the popular Sellita movements, the SW 200 and SW 330. For fans of Porsche Design, this again sounds like a cliché as the watchmaker has quite a long history of brand collaborations. It's worth noting, however, that Porsche Design definitely wants to establish itself in the replica luxury watches world, and that's a good thing.
There are four models in the Porsche Design 1919 Datetimer Series 1 series, highlighting only the differences in dial design and case construction. Personally, looking at the 42mm case, I think the Datetimer has a very simple design and can be used as a dress watch. Although its sporty looks take your perspective into the realm of stunning sports watches. Think of its double-sided anti-reflective crystal convexity and stylish lugs, bezel and sturdy crown. Like the Datetimer, the Globetimer comes in four models, which usually differ in only a few ways, such as a titanium case or a rubber version, with the same movement and features. Unlike the Datetimer, the Globetimer's dial contains more information, including a 24-hour scale on the inner ring. Contrary to the Datetimer's 4 o'clock position, the date window has also been moved to the 3 o'clock position. The Globetimer acts as a GMT watch, making it a must-have for international travelers. Some fans dislike the 24-time-zone reference located on the case back, which makes it very impractical. It does clean up the dial, however, as the collection aims to be neat and sporty, not cluttered or onerous, though you'll need to be familiar with the time zones you typically visit.
